finally
alright i figured i should just post once, as a token gesture that i'm still alive and lament about the lack of festivity here for CNY.spring semester's been fine. i'm taking too many classes and hating computer science (i really am not a computer person...) but loving german and my east asian studies class. my german professor's a dear and if not for the fact that he's 50, american, doesn't speak chinese and not all that tall, i'd totally marry him. he's a virtuoso at piano, a gourmet chef, has excellent style and taste (supposedly everyone goes to him for home decor advice) and really sweet. my east asian studies prof's wonderful too. he's old and funny and speaks fantastic chinese (he's NOT chinese) and knows all the famous chinese authors personally. i'm in awe. i think he's also blacklisted in china for knowing some people from the tiananmen incident. wonderful.
apart from that, life's okay. i lost my student id yesterday because i left it in my coat in a coat room and some random person must have taken my coat either by mistake or on purpose (i'm crossing my fingers that it's the former) so now i'm in a bad spot because i need my id to get to the dining hall and my room. whoever took it just return it to me NOW! not to mention that i drank a little too much and felt nauseous. i think hard liquor doesn't agree with my stomach (and no i don't usually drink, don't worry). and i automatically go into mother hen mode whenever i go out with my roommates, trying to make sure that they're fine and sober enough to make it back to the room. the dear girl who lives in the room above mine had eight shots within one hour and almost passed out and now she doesn't remember anything that happened last night. she's mad that she missed all the drama (technically she didn't but she doesn't remember it). i'm amused.
college just plods on. life is rather static. routines. cycles. day after day, week after week. it's still cold and it's snowing again today, after a brief three-day warm spell alluding the spring. days are getting longer and i love it. soon we'll be out in our polo shirts and miniskirts (actually i wear jeans but shirts and skirts rhyme and you know rhymes please me like nothing else). spring spring!
and now i'm listening to emo songs and feeling as emo as i can possibly be, which is not very because by nature i do not have mood swings. my roommate c and i are both emo song fanatics. i think i'm catching up on all that teenage angst i never had. yay for such maturity. and yy, i miss being young and carefree and filled-with-hope too (ha that sounds like the corrs' "so young")! i feel weighed down by responsibilities and reality now. but i know i'll feel even older ten years from now so i should still appreciate my relative youth.
i'm going to munich in the summer. back in singapore from july to september for my internship. friends are going to london for spring break. i would too if visa wasn't such a hassle. maybe i should head down to cuba and make good use of my chinese passport. cuba and north korea. such glorious places and i don't need a visa! yay. oh and i probably can't enter taiwan easily. lovely.
happy birthday yanni! i love you dearly :) and here's a kiss for you:
