for anyone who wants to know, i got my driving license~! ^_^ and for those who wanna know further, let me enlighten you on the whole test thingy.there's a warm-up where an instructor from the school (or your own private instructor depending la) brings you around the circuit to do all the courses and stuff ie. crank course, s-course, slope, directional change, vertical & parallel parking. then you go out on the road on one of the test routes (it doesn't matter which actually it's just a warm-up) and go back to the centre after that. following which there is a 20-minute break of nail-biting and hair-tearing as everyone taking the test for that time slot sits outside testers' office and waits till they brief us. then they bring you into another room and try to impress upon you the importance of honesty in the test and how they're trying to prevent corruption blah blah. it goes by balloting to see which tester you get and the corresponding test route. then you get called out one by one to go for the test. so glad i was the third to be called out and not the last!
my test went quite ok la...the circuit stuff went along nicely and then it was road. basically you turn out of the driving centre left or right onto your test route, do the route (most have u-turns, some have slopes, sharp bends etc) then go back to driving centre. you know there are some traffic lights with the green arrow that comes on when the light goes red? there was one along my route but i didn't know! so the light turned red and i stopped like the responsible driver i'm expected to be, without noticing that the green arrow had come on (ok i didn't even -know- there was a green arrow) so blah, delay in moving off. but thank goodness it's the box with a diagonal line across (those who are learning will know what i mean) so no points counted! then other stuff went quite ok...the tester says i have insufficient acceleration blah haha. it's the half-clutch thing la i think...cos some cars have higher biting points than others :( and he gave me points for driving too slowly for traffic conditions! ok the road was clear no cars in front and behind and i was travelling at 50kmh. which is the speed limit. hey i wanted to go faster too but speeding will give me an immediate failure *grouses* ah well never mind what matters is that i passed :) 12 point...quite ok la =)
today my mum let me drive to school then she drove back. was kinda scary cos it's my first time driving family car...and it's peak hour...and it's a rainy day...and it was my first time on an expressway! but ok la cos there were so many cars even though the speed limit is 90kmh we were crawling along at 40 most of the time so quite sian. there was this lorry behind me that apparently got quite pissed at me and honked...then later he turned up his high beam at me bleah. where's the sympathy in this world :(
